Meters are read at the end of every month and bills are sent out before the 1st. Most of our meters are touch read meters, however some are manually read. The touch read meters have a register that counts the number of gallons that go through the meter. There is a TRPL connected by a wire to the register. That TRPL is placed in a TRPL housing, and that housing is placed through the meter box lid. When meter reading, we use a "gun" to touch the TRPL, and that reading is sent to our hand held device, then down-loaded into the billing system when we return to the office. A lot of the meters/TRPL's and housings/meter boxes have been mistreated through the years, mowed over or crushed. This renders the touch read system unusable and the meters have to be replaced. Meters are $250, the TRPL housings are $50, and the meter boxes are $200.
If your meter/TRPL/meter box is broken in any way by anyone other than an employee of Skidmore Water Supply Corporation, repairs will be made and the customer will be billed for such repairs at the above rates.
